Market to Table – Friday 20th January

Market to Table is a special series of appointments created by Rachel Roddy, Carla Tomasi and Alice Adams for visitors to Rome.  The idea is to start at the market, mostly Testaccio, Rachel’s local, where we fill bags and baskets with the best of the season.  We then walk back across the river to Trastevere and up to the kitchen that is latteria studio where Carla awaits – with more produce from her garden in Ostia.

Making fresh pasta is much of the day, as well as trimming, cutting and prepping the vegetables and other morsels that will make up part of a very convivial shared lunch.

We have set dates for all of 2017 so that travellers to Rome can plan ahead.  You can book a place by using the link to eventbrite which will be active for appointments 3 months out from each of the dates.  There will be an active link to dates available to book:

Cost is 100 euro per person, for which a 40 deposit is paid to hold your place.

Festive Baking – 11th December

Nothing gets you in the mood for Christmas quite like the smell of spices and biscuits baking!  Join Carla for a hands on lesson featuring Rich fruit buns, the incredibly moreish Swedish Kanelbullar (cinnamon buns), Double chocolate chip cookies, Pavlova, and Buikos- savoury buns from the Balkans- with feta and thyme.

Cakes & Puddings – Saturday 3rd December

Indulge your sweet side in this daytime lesson which focusses on cakes and special puddings and desserts.  Carla will teach basics and tricks to a flour-less chocolate cake with glaze, a very British trifle, a Florentine zuccotto, an oat and walnut fruit crumble and a Bonet from Piemonte.  The lesson culminates in lunch with lots of good things fresh from Carla’s garden.

Fresh Pasta Workshop – Saturday 26th November, Latteria Studio

Join Carla for a day time lesson in which you’ll learn the essentials of pasta dough and flour varieties, which will then be turned into ravioli di zuccatagliatelle, chesnut flour pappardelle and a pasta timbale. The lesson will culminate in lunch gathered around a large table, where you’ll enjoy the dishes you’ve created, along with lots of good things brought fresh from Carla’s garden.
